The customer, a leading manufacturer of street lighting and high-bay luminaires in India, had been experiencing problems with the attachment of individual lenses to the elements of multiple LED arrays. The function of these lenses is to scatter or focus light from the arrays, as required, and while some of them are held in position by fasteners, most are secured in place with a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is perfectly adequate when the luminaire is placed in situ but it tends to loosen during transportation, leading to the lenses becoming detached and causing damage to the array.

Nanosilica Filled Epoxy with High Abrasion Resistance
Master Bond EP30NS is a two component epoxy system that cures at room temperature or more rapidly at elevated temperatures. It is optically clear especially in thin sections and can be used as an adhesive, sealant, coating and encapsulation compound. EP30NS offers dimensional stability, linear shrinkage of less than 0.01%, excellent physical strength characteristics and cures rigid. Most significantly, this epoxy system has been independently tested per ASTM D4060-14 for abrasion resistance for 1,000 cycles and exhibited a loss of weight of only 18.3 mg. Fast Production Test of UV-LEDs
Numerous applications, for example in the medical area or in material testing, are based on precisely specified UV radiation. For UV-B and UV-C emitters, the measurement of their spectrum between 325 nm down to 200 nm is generally only possible with extended measurement times due to their low radiant flux. As such, a condition for fast testing within production is high reliability in conjunction with high optical throughput of all participating system components. Within its well-established CAS-series of premium spectroradiometers over many years, Instrument Systems has developed a novel series-type CAS 140D-157. This new system measures precisely and reliably not only within the visible spectrum, but also in the UV. PerfectWhite: Luminus’ Latest Spectrally Tuned COB
Spectrally tuned sources are the essential components of human-centric lighting and Luminus PerfectWhite is it’s newest source, joining the Sensus and AccuWhite products, that has been purpose-designed and improves upon the light from conventional sources. PerfectWhite™, which closely replicates the visual characteristics of halogen lamps (3000 K) was preferred by lighting designers in testing at both Light + Building and Lightfair.
