Cree® XLamp® CMT LEDs Deliver up to 45 Percent Higher Lumen Density than Competition The new CMT LEDs extend Cree’s metal-based chip-on-board (COB) LED technology to the most prevalent COB form factors. Cree’s XLamp High Current LED Arrays provide up to 45% more lumen density and up to 17% higher efficacy, and feature an innovative metal substrate technology that delivers higher reliability than competing metal COBs. With more than 6,000 hours of LM-80 data, the expanded family of LEDs enables lighting manufacturers to upgrade designs for track, downlight and outdoor lighting. Read more »

DOE Awards Three Grants to SSL Technology
The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy have awarded three Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants targeting advances in solid-state lighting (SSL) technology. These Phase I grants will explore the technical merit and commercial potential of different innovative concepts or technologies that are expected to contribute to the achievement of the price and performance goals described in DOE’s SSL R&D Plan.
